inSANE
Carbs Are the Enemy & SANE Carbs are the Most Important Aspect of a Going SANE
Listen
Note 1
SANE Carbs are Non-Starchy Vegetables, which are the vegetables that can be eaten raw. For example, corn, potatoes, and many root vegetables cannot be eaten raw, so they are starches.
Note 2
You do NOT need to eat SANE carbs raw. It’s just useful to know that if a food gets most of its calories from carbs, and it can’t be eaten raw (corn, potatoes, wheat, grains, and legumes), it is likely inSANE.
Note 3
Both fresh and frozen Non-Starchy Vegetables are excellent choices. They should make up the majority of what you eat.
Step 3 of 6
SANE
SANE Carbs Are You Best Friend & Making it easy to be green.
Listen
Note 1
Deep green vegetables such as spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, greens, broccoli, and so on are the best of the best when it comes to Non-Starchy Vegetables.
Note 2
When it comes to cooking, do “whatever” it takes to get as many Non-Starchy Vegetables into your body as enjoyably as possible.
Note 3
A serving size of green leafy vegetables is about the size of both of your hand. For other Non-Starchy Vegetables, a serving is about the size of your hand. If cooking makes the veggies shrink, a serving is about the size of half your hand.
Step 4 of 6
Quiz
Remember these? Give them one more try now that you’ve spent a few minutes going SANE.
Q1
Eating an abundance of SANE carbohydrate is the single most important part of going SANE.
True
Correct! If all you do is focus 100% of your effort on enjoying at least 3 servings of Non-Starchy Vegetables with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you will enjoy radically improved health and body composition. Please prioritize enjoying Non-Starchy Vegetables above all other things eating and exercise related.
False
Try again.
Q2
SANE carbohydrates must be eaten raw.
True
Try again.
False
Correct! Your top priority is enjoying so many SANE carbohydrates (Non-Starchy Vegetables) that you are too full for inSANE carbohydrates (starches and sweets). Whether it’s raw, cooked, sautéed, steamed, blended in smoothies, boiled, in a cream sauce, covered in butter, etc., do whatever (within reason) to enjoy an abundance of Non-Starchy Vegetables!
Q3
Measuring serving sizes of Non-Starchy Vegetables precisely is critical to healing your body and burning fat.
True
Try again.
False
Correct! It’s critical NOT to get hung up on precision. That’s the quickest way to get discouraged. Focus 100% on eating mostly Non-Starchy Vegetables at every meal, and you will be a SANE superstar in no time.
